Nasi Bancakan "Abah Barna"

Met local traditional food!
Yes, for this post and probably next post I’ll be posting stuff from my lecture. They asked us, separating one class member to be some group which consisting six people in it. We have to visit local restaurant that present traditional cuisine from their owned place. In this case, it should be Sundanese.
It such an honor for me to do this kind of task because it basically what I love to do. post it in the internet as my diary and giving people (who probably look at my blog) an inspiration.
In this first opportunity, we visited “Nasi Bancakan”. Even I’m pure a sundanese but I don’t really understand the meaning of that word as Sundanese language. But luckily we met the founder of Nasi Bancakan. He He explained what the meaning of Bancakan was. Bancakan means spending time with people you love or whoever might be in happy ways. It should be eating some foods together. I thought it’s seems like thanksgiving in western but Bancakan shouldn’t be in special time. We can do that every time we want depends on the situation.
The founder of Nasi Bancakan named Abah Barna. He reminded me of my grandfather who lived far away in my hometown. He started his business on October 17th 2007. Beside this traditional restaurant, there was a more modern restaurant which still owned by his family. Basically they have family business which very cool.

Les Trois Espresso Bar

Another day in my hometown, I visited (again) a coffee shop. I just realized that coffee business is growing up very fast in town. I looked back to my ‘must visit list’ and found it out. I still have more than 2 kinds of these places to visit in Sukabumi. But that’s fine. I’m a new fan of coffee now.

Seblak... Woops?!

Let me explain the main ingredient of what I’m going to talk about. It’s “kerupuk” or “krupuk”. I don’t know how to spell and pronounce it right. But it basically something can be expand if we fry it with very hot oil. Kerupuk is usually being a side dish to every Sundanese food. But sometime, we eat kerupuk to complete our foods.
There were so many kind of kerupuk. Even for color, size and taste. It depends on the main ingredients of kerupuk. It will be (kind of) hard to mention kind of kerupuk but if you want me to do that on my blog, just let me know!

Brunch : Buy One Get One Free at Porto

Couple times ago I went to Porto restaurant for Dilmah Real High Tea Challenge Café and Restaurant 2015. They served really amazing dishes so I don’t feel surprised when we got the result of that competition. Congratulations Porto, for being the winner of Dilmah Real High Tea Challenge this year!
I love their services. They are located in Jl. Setiabudhi No. 53 Bandung. I know my aim to get there is for Dilmah, but they said that they’re having new brunch menu. And now, they are having great promo that will make you want to come there. You can get one more free plate when you order one of their brunch menus. That is so interesting!

Uncle G Corner & Seecul

I’m home again.
After more than 6 months, I met Isti. We shared each other stories during the time we don’t meet. That was really nice. We are choosing the most popular place in our home town, Sukabumi. They opened the new place which is larger than the main location.
There were 2 brands that I posted in this post. They are typical food court but I think they are a lot better because they match each other. But I saw there were more than 2 brands in this location. Maybe there are 4. But I’m not very sure.
Isti and I ordered our foods from Uncle G Corner. For the beverages we ordered from Seecul. That’s fair enough right?

Dilmah Real High Tea Challenge Cafes & Restaurants 2015

I never felt so excited like this before in my whole life. I’m going to review these two places which participate in Dilmah Real High Tea Challenge Cafes & Restaurants 2015. Before the challenge happened, Dilmah gathered some Bandung food bloggers and competitors at Luxton Hotel on August 13th. Some of the bloggers are very popular and made me so nervous at the moment. But I’m grateful for being there.
Basically, Dilmah challenges these Cafés and Restaurants. They should be making some dish which makes of or contains their product, in this case is tea. In judging process, competitors have to brew the hot teas in front of judges. They will make two different drinks and must be paired with either a sweet or savory dish. It could be hot, warm or cold.
And for tea inspired cuisine, competitors have to make 1 sweet or savory dish which made from tea as an ingredient. It makes me feel so glad because I learn about it before at the food ingredients class in the college. I can add more knowledge in real life, not just theory.
I got the opportunity to visit Porto Restaurant and Chubby Bunny. There were 8 restaurants and cafes which take part in this challenge. I can’t visit all the places because it’s hard for me to match my school schedule. I visited both of them on September 12th.

Sop Durian Mozzarela

Some people love it and the others hate it very much. Durian or duren. Whatever you called it but I know this one is tropical fruit. It smells really strong that’s probably why some people love it and either hated it. I’m in between actually. I don’t love it very much but I also don’t hate it. I can eat everything I guess.
Last weekend, I went home for visiting my family in town. My hometown located in Sukabumi. Five hours away by bus from Bandung. Every time I pass a road near the city center, I always see this new café. It looked so interesting for me because they show so much durian in front of their place.
Sop Durian Mozzarela café is only there in Sukabumi. They started in 2014 and now they have 2 café in town.
I decided to visit this little café with my friend, Owl (not real name). Well we went there and order three menus that can represent all the menus in this café. They offered everything that contained durian.
